We're looking for an experienced and motivated and highly capable Registered Building Inspector (Class 2A-F) to help deliver safe, compliant and high‑quality building control services across our partner authorities. This is an opportunity to play a pivotal role in safeguarding the quality, safety and integrity of a diverse portfolio of domestic and commercial construction projects.
In this role, you will take full ownership of a varied caseload of Class 2A-F applications, working independently to carry out detailed plan assessments, undertake site inspections and implement proportionate enforcement actions where required. You will be a trusted professional, providing clear, practical and authoritative advice to clients, contractors, colleagues and partner organisations, ensuring all projects meet the reuired legislation and standards.
You will also contribute to driving service excellence, supporting the ongoing development and enhancement of our Quality Management System and OSR compliance. Alongside this, you'll play an active and rewarding role in mentoring and developing trainee inspectors and Class 2A (Domestic) RBIs, helping to shape the future of the profession. The role includes responding to dangerous structures and participating in an out-of-hours-rota.
About You
You will be registered with the BSR as a Class 2A-F Registered Building Inspector, with proven experience in a building control surveying role, ideally within a local authority building control setting or a registered building control approver environment.
You'll bring strong technical expertise in building regulations, OSR requirements and professional codes of practice, coupled with hands-on experience of managing a caseload of Class2A-F buildings. You will be confident in interpreting legislation and applying it in a practical, solutions-focused way.
With excellent written and verbal communication skills, you will be able to work independently with accuracy, professionalism and sound judgement. A collaborative mindset is essential, alongside the confidence to influence, negotiate and build strong, effective relationships with a wide range of stakeholders.
You will also be proficient in Microsoft Office and building control software, be able to travel between different locations and be able to work safely and confidently onsite.
