Registered Manager – Children's Home at Gray Matter Ltd, Sutton

REGISTERED MANAGER – 2-BED THERAPEUTIC CHILDREN'S HOME

Sutton, Surrey | £55,000–£65,000 per annum | Full-time | Permanent

Gray Matter Ltd is developing a new 2-bed therapeutic children's home in Sutton, Surrey, and we are looking for an experienced Registered Manager to lead the home through registration, opening and ongoing development.

This is an exciting opportunity to join the project at an early stage and help shape the culture, team and standards of a brand-new home supporting young people with complex needs, trauma histories and emotional or behavioural difficulties.

THE OPPORTUNITY

As Registered Manager, you will take overall responsibility for the safe and effective running of the home, working closely with the Director and Responsible Individual.

You will:

• Lead preparation for Ofsted registration and opening.
• Manage the day-to-day operation of the home and residential team.
• Recruit, supervise, support and develop staff.
• Maintain strong safeguarding, risk management and care planning arrangements.
• Ensure children's wishes, feelings and individual needs remain central to practice.
• Manage incidents, safeguarding concerns, complaints and professional relationships.
• Maintain effective quality assurance and regulatory compliance.
• Work closely with social workers, health, education and other professionals.
• Promote a trauma-informed, therapeutic and relationship-based approach.
• Prepare the home for inspection and drive continuous improvement.

ABOUT YOU

We are looking for a confident and compassionate children's residential professional who can lead a team and establish a positive culture from the outset.

You will ideally have:

• Significant experience working with children and young people in residential care.
• Experience supervising and managing staff in a care setting.
• Strong safeguarding and risk management experience.
• Experience supporting young people with complex needs, trauma or challenging behaviours.
• Good knowledge of children's residential practice and Ofsted expectations.
• Experience with care plans, risk assessments, incidents and multi-agency working.
• Strong leadership, communication and organisational skills.
• A child-centred and relationship-based approach.
• A relevant management qualification or commitment to achieving the required qualification.

Previous Registered Manager experience is highly desirable. Experience helping to establish, register or open a children's home would also be advantageous.
