Registered Manager - Therapeutic Home

To be responsible for the effective day-to-day running of the residential home, managing a team of staff and work allocations, as well as undertaking direct work with children when necessary. To take full responsibility for all aspects of the residential setting.

1.1 To work in accordance with current legislation including The Children’s Homes (England) Regulations 2015, Quality Standards 2015, The Children Act 1989 and 2004, and all other relevant legislation.

1.2 To take overall responsibility for all regulatory requirements associated with Ofsted registration and the home’s Statement of Purpose.

1.3 To lead the home and staff team through Ofsted inspections and ensure continuous readiness.

1.4 To embed the strategic vision and values of the business within policies, procedures, and management practices.

1.5 To ensure all safeguarding risks are identified and acted upon immediately, with appropriate measures taken to mitigate risk.

1.6 To communicate effectively and in a timely manner with all internal and external stakeholders.

1.7 To work collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary framework, promoting equality and inclusive practice at all times.

1.8 To undertake and participate in all required training and development programmes.

1.9 To develop and maintain effective partnerships with external agencies and professionals.

1.10 To take overall responsibility for staffing, including management to ensure staffing levels meet the needs of children.

1.11 To provide strong leadership and management of staff, including supervision, appraisal, induction, and ongoing development.

1.12 To remain up to date with legislative changes and ensure these are communicated and embedded into practice.

1.13 To maintain robust administrative systems, including case records, referrals, risk assessments, ensuring compliance with confidentiality and quality standards.

1.14 To ensure the home environment, including buildings and fixtures, is maintained to a high standard and remains safe and secure (This includes but is not limited to the cleanliness of the property).

1.15 To contribute to the operational development of services alongside the Senior Management Team.

1.16 To ensure effective communication systems are in place so staff operate safely and knowledgeably.

1.17 To adhere to recruitment policies and manage HR issues effectively alongside the Head of People & Culture

1.18 To ensure the home remains inspection-ready at all times.

1.19 To maintain high standards of record-keeping, auditing, and supervision.

1.20 To manage complaints promptly, sensitively, and effectively (Ensuring effective referral to appropriate agencies e.g. LADO).

1.21 To ensure all safeguarding legislation, policies, and procedures are followed rigorously.

1.22 To promote diversity, equality, and inclusion within the home and wider community.

1.23 To oversee quality assurance processes in line with Ofsted and internal monitoring requirements.

1.24 To ensure care plans and support packages are regularly reviewed and responsive to children’s needs.

1.25 To work in partnership with children, families, and professionals in care planning.

1.26 To ensure children’s health needs are met through effective partnership working with health professionals.

1.27 To promote participation in therapeutic, social, and recreational activities (This including but not limited to our in house clinical team Midhurst).

1.28 To ensure all children access a full and appropriate education programme.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

• Have Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare (England).

• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in residential childcare, with at least 3 years in a senior position.

• Experience of assessment, care planning, and reviews

• Evidence of effective partnership working

• Full UK driving licence

• Strong understanding of relevant legislation including Children Act 1989, Care Standards Act 2000, and Children’s Homes Regulations 2015

• Knowledge of therapeutic models
