Regulatory Reporting Apprentice

Dudley Building Society

Remote-friendly

Ready to take your first step into a career in finance, data and regulatory reporting? At Dudley Building Society, we're looking for someone with curiosity, care and a head for numbers to join us as a Regulatory Reporting Apprentice.

You don't need previous regulatory reporting experience - this role is designed to help you learn. Through a structured apprenticeship, you'll combine formal study with hands-on experience in our Finance team, developing practical skills that support the Society's regulatory obligations.

From working with spreadsheets and checking data, to understanding controls, reconciliations and working papers, you'll be supported to build confidence step by step while contributing to work that really matters.

The role

As our Regulatory Reporting Apprentice, you'll assist with the preparation of assigned prudential, statistical and other regulatory returns under supervision, following documented procedures and agreed timetables.

The role will combine formal apprenticeship study with workplace learning, giving you the opportunity to build technical knowledge while supporting routine reconciliations, validation checks, documentation and improvement activity.

What you'll be doing

  • Assist with the preparation of assigned prudential, statistical and other regulatory returns under supervision, making sure tasks are completed accurately and on time.
  • Gather, organise and validate regulatory reporting data from approved sources, learning how data maps into returns and how controlled adjustments are recorded.
  • Complete routine reconciliations, movement analysis and validation checks under guidance, documenting findings clearly and raising anything unusual.
  • Maintain complete working papers, evidence and audit trails for all assigned activity, applying feedback from review to future work.
  • Build effective relationships with stakeholders and contribute to improvement ideas.

What we're looking for

  • No previous regulatory reporting experience is required - we're looking for curiosity, attention to detail and a genuine willingness to learn.
  • A good standard of numeracy, written communication and digital literacy.
  • Confidence using spreadsheets and working with data, with support and training provided as you develop.
  • Someone who is organised, methodical and able to follow procedures, meet deadlines and keep clear records.
  • The confidence to ask questions, listen to feedback and apply learning in a practical workplace setting.
  • Eligibility for, and commitment to, the Society's approved apprenticeship programme, including training, workplace evidence and end-point assessment requirements.

What's in it for you?

We want our people to feel supported, valued and able to thrive. In return, you'll receive:

  • Annual salary of £17,896.
  • Intelligent working - split your time between home and our Brierley Hill office.
  • 30 days' holiday, plus bank holidays and "Moments that Matter" days for birthdays, weddings, getting your house keys, welcoming a grandchild and the moments that count.
  • Up to 8% pension contribution.
  • Life assurance at 4× salary.
  • Full Private Medical Insurance for you and your family.
  • A healthcare plan for everyday essentials like dental and optical.
  • Access to our Salary Sacrifice schemes, including Cycle to Work and Electric Car schemes.
