Facilities Management Relocation Manager

Carrington West are assisting a London local authority with the appointment of an experienced Facilities Management Relocation Manager to lead and coordinate corporate relocations, office moves, service decants and workplace reconfiguration projects across a complex operational estate.


For this appointment, strong Facilities Management experience gained within a local authority environment is particularly important. We are looking for someone who understands the complexities of managing accommodation and workplace change across a diverse public-sector estate, working with multiple Council services, operational teams and stakeholders.


This is a hands-on delivery role combining Facilities Management, workplace planning, space utilisation, AutoCAD and relocation/project management. You will manage accommodation changes from initial planning through to move-day delivery, ensuring services remain operational and disruption is kept to a minimum.
The Role


Key responsibilities will include:


·Leading corporate relocations, office moves, service decants and workplace reconfiguration projects.
·Working closely with Facilities Management teams and Council services to coordinate complex accommodation changes.
·Producing workplace layouts, occupancy plans and space utilisation analysis.
·Using AutoCAD to develop floor plans, layouts and move scenarios.
·Managing multiple relocation workstreams, milestones, risks and operational dependencies.
·Coordinating FM, IT, Security, contractors and operational teams.
·Procuring and managing removals, storage and logistics contractors.
·Supporting Corporate Landlord and wider estate rationalisation initiatives.
·Maintaining accurate furniture, equipment, workplace and accommodation records.
·Planning moves to protect business continuity and minimise disruption to Council services.
·Ensuring relocation activity is delivered safely and in accordance with relevant Health & Safety requirements.


About You


We are particularly interested in candidates who can demonstrate a strong Facilities Management background within a local authority or Council setting, alongside direct experience of delivering relocations and workplace change.


You will ideally have:


·Substantial Facilities Management experience gained within a local authority environment.
·A strong understanding of Council operational estates, Corporate Landlord functions and the complexities of delivering change across multiple services and stakeholders.
·Proven experience delivering office relocations, service moves, decants and workplace reconfigurations.
·Significant workplace planning, space utilisation and accommodation planning experience.
·Strong AutoCAD capability, with the ability to develop floor plans, layouts and move drawings.
·Experience managing multiple move projects and workstreams simultaneously.
·Experience commissioning and managing external removals and logistics contractors.
·Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the confidence to work across different Council departments and operational teams.
·Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to manage competing operational priorities.
·Degree-level qualification or equivalent professional experience within Facilities Management or Logistics Management.
·Membership of IWFM would be beneficial.


Previous experience operating within a political/local government environment and an understanding of member relations would also be advantageous.


The role involves regular travel between operational sites and requires some flexibility to work outside normal office hours, including occasional evenings or weekends, to oversee move-day activities.
