Overview

We are looking for a Mid-Level Java Developer to join a distributed engineering team delivering modern software solutions within a private sector environment. The successful candidate will be a strong communicator, comfortable working within a remote-first team, and capable of contributing across the full software development lifecycle.

This role offers the opportunity to work on innovative projects involving APIs, cloud-native applications, containerised deployments, and emerging AI/LLM technologies.

Essential Skills

• Strong commercial experience with Java
• Experience designing and developing REST APIs
• Hands-on experience building or integrating LLM Agents and AI-powered solutions
• Solid software engineering fundamentals, including:
• • Writing automated tests
  • Debugging and troubleshooting
  • Logging and monitoring configuration
  • Code reviews and best practices
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills

Desirable Skills

• Commercial experience with Python
• Experience working with Docker and containerised applications
• Exposure to cloud-native development practices and CI/CD pipelines

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain scalable Java-based applications and services
• Design and implement RESTful APIs
• Contribute to the development and integration of LLM-powered solutions and AI agents
• Configure and support application logging, monitoring, and observability
• Write and maintain automated tests to ensure software quality
• Collaborate with developers, architects, and business stakeholders in a distributed team environment
• Participate in code reviews and contribute to engineering best practices

• Proven experience as a Java Developer within agile engineering teams
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
• Comfortable working remotely with geographically dispersed teams
• Self-motivated with the ability to work independently
