A growing international renewable energy and engineering organisation is looking for an experienced Project Controller to join its UK operation.
The business delivers complex solar and infrastructure projects and offers a collaborative, project-focused environment where finance, operations and technology work closely together.
The Role
The Project Controller will provide financial and commercial support to project managers and senior business leaders. You will monitor project costs, analyse performance against budgets and forecasts, and provide clear financial information to support business decisions.
In addition to project controlling, you will act as a key user of the company’s ERP and reporting platforms, helping colleagues use the systems effectively and contributing to process and systems improvements.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor the financial performance of projects and business units.
- Review actual expenditure against budgets and identify cost variances.
- Investigate financial deviations and communicate findings to project managers.
- Prepare monthly project forecasts, performance reports and relevant KPIs.
- Produce ad-hoc financial analysis to support operational and management decisions.
- Prepare documentation for forecast reviews and participate in review meetings.
- Maintain accurate project and financial information within the ERP system.
- Support users with system queries, troubleshooting and issue resolution.
- Deliver guidance or training to colleagues using finance and reporting tools.
- Help improve ERP, business intelligence and reporting processes.
- Participate in continuous-improvement initiatives across Finance, IT, Operations and Logistics.
- Several years’ experience in project controlling, financial controlling, commercial finance or a comparable position.
- Experience gained within a project-led, construction, engineering, energy or infrastructure environment would be highly advantageous.
- Strong knowledge of budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis and management reporting.
- Practical experience working with ERP systems and business intelligence or reporting tools.
- Strong Excel and general systems capabilities.
- An analytical and detail-oriented approach, combined with an understanding of wider commercial priorities.
- Excellent organisation, communication and stakeholder-management skills.
- A proactive and service-focused approach to supporting operational teams.
- Experience in accounting, supply chain or logistics would be beneficial.
- Excellent written and spoken English is essential.
- German language skills would be advantageous but are not required.
