Brook Street Social Care is currently recruiting a compassionate and reliable Family Support Worker to provide support to a mother and her two young children in the Charminster area.
This is a lone-working role within a low-risk family environment. The family requires practical and emotional support due to a history of child neglect concerns and the mother's ongoing mental health challenges.
About the RoleYou will work directly with the family in their home, providing encouragement, guidance, and practical assistance to help improve outcomes for both the parent and children. The aim is to promote a safe, nurturing, and stable home environment while supporting the mother's wellbeing and parenting capacity.
Key Responsibilities- Build a positive and professional relationship with the family.
- Support the mother with daily routines and parenting responsibilities.
- Encourage positive interactions between the mother and her children.
- Promote the children's wellbeing, development, and safety.
- Provide emotional support and practical guidance.
- Assist with household organisation and establishing healthy routines.
- Monitor progress and maintain accurate records.
- Liaise with relevant professionals where required.
- A minimum of 6 months' UK care experience within the last 2 years is essential.
- Experience working with children, families, or vulnerable adults.
- An understanding of mental health challenges and their impact on family life.
- A caring, patient, and non-judgemental approach.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to work independently and confidently in a lone-working environment.
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one.
- Right to work in the UK.
