Revenues Recovery and Enforcement Officer - The Role:

You will be part of our successful Revenues Recovery and Enforcement Team, working on a range of recovery cases from initial arrears review through to court proceedings. You will review outstanding debts, negotiate sustainable payment arrangements with customers, handle complex cases and present evidence at court hearings. You will also work closely with enforcement agents, legal services and internal teams to progress cases appropriately and efficiently.

Revenues Recovery and Enforcement Officer - Key Responsibilities:

- Review accounts in arrears and decide on appropriate recovery action, considering customer circumstances

- Negotiate fair and sustainable repayment plans with residents and monitor payment arrangements

- Take enforcement action when necessary, following legislation and policy, including dealing with formal debt management and insolvency cases

- Present evidence at court hearings in Magistrates Court, County Court and Tribunals

- Work closely with enforcement agents, courts, legal services and internal teams to progress cases

- Support the Senior Recovery Officer on difficult and complex cases

- Monitor enforcement agent activity to ensure compliance with service standards

- Prepare responses to correspondence, enquiries and requests for information from customers and stakeholders

- Keep knowledge up to date regarding legislation, procedures, case law and policy

Revenues Recovery and Enforcement Officer - You:

- Hold a minimum of 5 qualifications equivalent to NVQ level 2, GCSE Grade C/4 or above, including Maths and English

- Have at least 3 years experience specialising in debt collection with sound knowledge of debt recovery processes

- Have experience presenting evidence in court, tribunal or similar environment

- Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills with ability to use tact and discretion

- Show advanced debt collection and management skills with ability to show empathy to customers, including vulnerable customers

- Have excellent negotiation and influencing skills and can remain calm in confrontational situations

- Possess proficient IT skills including Microsoft applications and ability to input and process data

- Can prioritise work effectively, meet deadlines and work collaboratively as part of a team

- Understand and comply with Data Protection principles and maintain confidentiality
