We are recruiting for a Risk and Compliance Manager to join our client, an insurance business, in their Compliance team. This is a 6 month FTC, with a permanent opportunity, offering an excellent salary and great benefits.
About the role:
To manage the regulatory and legislative compliance function for all jurisdictions within which the company operates through the development and operation of an effective worldwide framework.
To manage the risk monitoring framework and risk register.
Key responsibilities include;
- To provide compliance management, advice, education and training, taking ownership and seeking resolution of the compliance function, including any new regulatory initiatives.
- To manage regulatory and legislative compliance within the global business and to ensure that the appropriate regulatory registrations (including licences) and approvals are in place.
- Line manage the KYC Screening Analyst and Compliance Officer, including setting objectives, providing regular supervision and feedback, supporting professional development, and managing performance.
- To ensure that all entities adhere to all internal and external regulations.
- To monitor and review regulatory materials published by regulators, liaising with branch offices as appropriate.
- To advise and monitor compliance with the companies policies on Financial Crime (including sanctions legislation and the Bribery Act), conflicts of interest, conduct risk, complaints, TCF and developing and maintaining appropriate policies and procedures.
- To provide compliance insight to Group-wide projects.
- To prepare and deliver (when required) compliance reports for the Board(s) of Directors and any associated Board committees.
- To act as Privacy Officer by informing and advising the company and its employees of their data protection obligations, monitoring compliance with the GDPR, awareness-raising and training of staff, and engaging with the Information Commissioner’s Office or relevant Supervisory Authority.
- To represent the company on the International Group Regulatory Affairs Sub-committee.
- To coordinate the implementation, monitoring, documentation, and communicate all information security requirements.
- To maintain and develop the risk register by working directly with the companies risk owners.
- To coordinate the quarterly risk and control sign-off process, analyse results and produce MI reports.
- To coordinate quarterly Emerging Risk Working Group meetings and prepare required reports.
- To support the business with risk-related projects as needed.
About you:
- Highly experienced in operating within an international insurance business
- Expert compliance, conduct and operational risk knowledge.
- Effective influencer and problem-solving skills.
- Competent at identifying potential risks, determining their likelihood and consequences in order to technically assist the business and ultimately making informed decisions.
- Completely competent at encouraging communication throughout the company on issues related to or affecting the development of compliance management.
- Competent to provide staff risk and compliance training wherever necessary.
- Capable of developing and maintaining relationships with consultants and regulatory bodies.
- Ability to confidently explain company policy in relation to risk, compliance and regulatory strategy issues to others, both internally and externally.
- Able to interpret and assess risk and articulate clearly to the business how to approach different situations appropriately
