Risk Manager

- Rate: Up to £420/day (inside IR35)
- Location: Stansted Airport – 3 days per week on site (additional expenses support available for site access)
- Duration: contract initially until May 2027
- Working Hours: 40 hours per week
- Clearance: BPSS required initially, with potential for CTC/Airside Pass.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the delivery of risk management activities across the STN‑TP.
- Promote a positive, proactive, and embedded risk management culture across the programme.
- Ensure risk management processes are followed consistently and professionally.
- Support the STN‑TP Risk Team in day‑to‑day risk management, coordination, and assurance activities.
- Prepare and facilitate project and programme risk workshops, engaging effectively with project teams.
- Support implementation of risk mitigation actions to reduce exposure and uncertainty.
- Maintain and update the STN‑TP risk database (riskHive), ensuring accuracy, quality, and currency of data.
- Support development and delivery of risk management onboarding and training materials.
- Prepare inputs for monthly project and programme risk reports.
- Assist with quantitative risk analysis (QCRA/QSRA) under supervision using tools such as riskHive, PRA, or Safran.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of risk management processes, templates, and tools.
Key Deliverables
- Support delivery of monthly project‑level risk workshops.
- Prepare and coordinate monthly programme‑level risk workshops.
- Support and contribute to ad‑hoc risk reviews as required.
- Maintain riskHive records following workshops and project team inputs.
- Support the monthly QCRA process in riskHive.
- Assist with quarterly QSRA where required.
- Provide inputs to project‑level monthly risk reports (CCDs).
- Provide inputs to the programme‑level monthly risk report, including MPR slides and CCDs.
- Attend monthly Management Progress Reviews (MPRs) to support risk reporting and assurance.
- Support risk impact assessments related to STN‑TP changes and contribute to weekly change panel discussions.
Skills, Knowledge, and Experience
Qualifications and Experience
- Relevant degree, diploma, or equivalent experience.
- Working toward or holding a foundational risk management qualification (desirable).
- Experience supporting risk management or project controls on infrastructure, transport, energy, or other complex major programmes.
Risk Management Knowledge
A working knowledge or developing expertise aligned with ISO 31000, APM, or IRM principles, including:
- Implementing and supporting risk management processes
- Preparing and coordinating risk workshops
- Conducting and supporting qualitative risk assessments
- Developing skills in quantitative risk analysis techniques
- Producing risk reports that support effective decision‑making
- Awareness of (or willingness to learn) tools such as ARM, Xactium, PRA, Safran, @Risk, and riskHive
Additional Knowledge
- Awareness of Value Management principles (training can be provided).
- Understanding of how risk integrates with cost, schedule, and project controls, or a willingness to develop this knowledge.
