The Role

We are looking for an experienced Road Freight Operations Manager to lead and develop a busy road freight operation.

You will be responsible for team performance, operational delivery, customer service, financial performance, compliance and continuous improvement, while supporting the growth and development of the department.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the day-to-day Road Freight operation and team.
• Oversee workloads, capacity, productivity and operational performance.
• Support quotations, pricing and local charge reviews.
• Ensure revenue and financial performance meet budget expectations.
• Support new business transitions and existing customer development.
• Attend sales meetings and provide market intelligence and operational insight.
• Lead team huddles, meetings, appraisals and one-to-ones.
• Support employee development, training and goal setting.
• Identify and implement system and process improvements.
• Work closely with Sales, Trade Compliance and branch leadership.
• Maintain high standards of customer service, compliance and operational excellence.

About You

You will ideally have:

• Strong Road Freight / European Road Freight experience.
• Previous management or supervisory experience within freight forwarding.
• Good commercial and financial awareness.
• Strong customer service and communication skills.
• Experience with quotations, pricing and operational processes.
• Excellent organisational and leadership skills.
• A proactive approach to process improvement.
• The ability to develop and motivate a team.
