Road Freight Operator
Spring Supply Chain
The vacancy sits within the road freight operation, covering European imports, exports and some cross-trade movements. However, the business is open-minded about background. If you’re an experienced freight forwarder from another mode and would fit well within the team, they’re happy to consider you.
This is an end-to-end operational role where you’ll take ownership of your customers rather than handling one small part of the forwarding process. New business is won by the Directors before being passed across to operations, leaving you responsible for building the customer relationship and managing their freight day to day.
What you'll be doing
- Managing European road freight imports and exports
- Coordinating cross-trade shipments across Europe
- Managing shipments from booking through to delivery
- Liaising with customers, suppliers, hauliers and overseas partners
- Providing updates and resolving operational issues
- Building strong relationships with your own customer base
- Completing and coordinating the relevant shipment documentation
- Working closely with the wider operations team
- Taking responsibility for the quality and profitability of the work you manage
What they're looking for Freight forwarding experience is essential, ideally within European road freight imports and/or exports. However, experience within another freight mode will also be considered if you have strong end-to-end forwarding knowledge.
Just as importantly, they want someone who will fit into the existing team. It’s an outgoing office where people work hard, help each other and have a laugh along the way. They’re looking for someone who gets on with the job, takes responsibility and doesn’t need to be constantly chased or managed.
