Our client, Ringway Jacobs, a leading provider of integrated highways management, is seeking a Road Safety Engineer to join their team.

Purpose of the role:
As a key member of the Road Safety Engineering team within Essex Highways, the role involves contributing to the successful delivery of essential services, including Road Safety Audits, the Annual Collision Investigation Program, and Fatal Road Death investigations.
This dynamic, fast-paced position requires an individual who thrives in a high-pressure environment, is highly motivated, and is capable of managing a diverse range of tasks simultaneously. The work carried out will directly support our commitment to achieving the Vision Zero target – eliminating all deaths and serious injuries on roads in Essex by 2040
What you will be responsible for:
- Undertaking Road Safety Audits and assessments on behalf of the Highway Authority
- Identifying collision trends at locations and put forward Safety Engineering solutions
- Undertaking Fatal Road Collision Investigations on behalf of the Highway Authority
- Carrying out ad-hoc collision investigations
- When required, attend meetings to provide Road Safety support and technical input as appropriate.
- Providing timely and accurate advice to colleagues, Councillors, and the general public on all highway-related safety matters as required
- Assisting in developing new team policies and procedural documents
- Assisting the Team Leader and Senior Engineer with the presentation of reports, to Highways Panels, County and District Council committees, and
- To be the technical expert in collision analysis and a safety audit team leader, promoting good practise throughout the organisation
- Other Ad Hoc duties to fulfil the requirement of the role
What you will need:
This role will be a good fit for you if you have:
- A degree, or equivalent high level qualification, or significant experience in highways.
- Knowledge of relevant Highway Design procedures and standards.
- Road Safety Engineering / Collision Investigation experience.
- Conversant with Microsoft applications.
