Room Leader / Third in Charge

We are looking for an experienced and motivated Room Leader / Third in Charge to join a well-established Montessori nursery in Croydon (CR7). 

This is a full-time leadership position within a high-quality Early Years setting and is ideal for an experienced Level 3 practitioner looking to take the next step in their leadership career. The nursery provides a warm, child-centred environment, combining the Montessori approach with the EYFS framework to support children's learning and development. Term-time only applicants will also be considered.

You will be:

  • Leading the day-to-day practice within your room while supporting the overall running of the nursery as Third in Charge

  • Supporting and mentoring practitioners to deliver high-quality care and education

  • Planning and delivering engaging learning experiences in line with the EYFS framework and Montessori principles

  • Acting as a key person and building strong relationships with children and their families

  • Monitoring children's progress through observations, assessments, and next-step planning

  • Promoting safeguarding, health and safety, and ensuring compliance with EYFS requirements

  • Supporting the Nursery Manager and Deputy Manager with operational duties and maintaining high standards across the setting

  • Contributing to a positive, nurturing environment that promotes continuous improvement

The successful candidate will hold a minimum Level 3 Early Years qualification and have previous experience in a Room Leader or senior practitioner role within an Early Years setting. A strong understanding of the EYFS framework, safeguarding, child development, and staff leadership is essential. Knowledge of the Montessori approach would be advantageous but is not essential.
