Room Leader

UCM Education

We are looking for an experienced and dedicated Room Leader to lead the Big Room (2–5 years) at a friendly, community-focused nursery in Camden.

This is a fantastic term-time only opportunity for an experienced Early Years professional looking to take the next step in their career within a nurturing, child-led environment. The nursery has a capacity of around 40 children, with direct access to outdoor garden spaces and a varied enrichment programme including cooking, yoga, gardening and Forest School.

You will be:

  • Taking responsibility for the effective day-to-day running of the Big Room

  • Leading and supporting a team to provide consistently high standards of care and education

  • Planning and delivering engaging, play-based experiences in line with the EYFS

  • Creating a stimulating, inclusive and child-led learning environment

  • Supporting children aged 2–5 years with their individual development, wellbeing and learning

  • Making effective use of the nursery’s outdoor spaces and enrichment opportunities

  • Acting as a key person and building strong, positive relationships with children and their families

  • Completing observations and assessments to monitor children’s progress and inform future planning

  • Supporting and mentoring colleagues, promoting positive teamwork and good practice

  • Maintaining high standards of safeguarding, health and safety and professional practice

  • Working closely with the management team to support the continued development of the nursery

The successful candidate will hold a Level 3 Early Years qualification and have previous experience working within a nursery or Early Years setting, ideally with experience leading a room or supervising a team. A strong understanding of the EYFS, safeguarding and child development is essential, alongside excellent communication, organisational and leadership skills.
