Entech is partnering with one of Ireland's largest energy organisations to recruit a Safety Specialist for a key role supporting the delivery of renewable energy and major infrastructure projects. This position offers the opportunity to influence safety strategy across wind, solar, hydrogen, energy storage, and other critical projects that are helping shape the future of sustainable energy.
Overview
- Lead health and safety compliance across renewable energy and major infrastructure projects.
- Support the delivery of wind, solar, hydrogen, energy storage, thermal generation, remediation, and demolition projects.
- Act as the subject matter expert for PSDP (Ireland) and Principal Designer (UK) responsibilities.
- Provide strategic safety leadership to engineering, project, and contractor teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide health and safety guidance to multidisciplinary engineering and project teams throughout the project lifecycle.
- Ensure compliance with relevant safety legislation, standards, and ESB requirements.
- Lead and improve PSDP and Principal Designer processes across projects.
- Review and challenge Design Risk Assessments (DRAs) and Health & Safety plans.
- Coordinate Safety in Design activities and identify opportunities to eliminate or reduce risk.
- Support HAZID, design reviews, and risk management activities.
- Deliver safety training and improve internal competency in PSDP/PD responsibilities.
- Assess contractor competence and provide recommendations.
- Promote a positive health and safety culture across project teams and sites.
- Act as the key point of contact for safety-related advice and guidance.
Essential Requirements
- Level 8 qualification in Health & Safety or related discipline.
- Minimum 7 years' health and safety experience on large-scale construction or infrastructure projects.
- Minimum 2 years' experience performing PSDP and/or Principal Designer duties.
- Strong knowledge of health and safety legislation, standards, and best practices.
- Excellent communication, leadership, stakeholder management, and influencing skills.
- Ability to work independently and provide strategic safety guidance.
Desirable Experience
- Renewable energy, utilities, power generation, or major infrastructure projects.
- Solar, wind, thermal generation, hydrogen, or demolition projects.
- Principal Designer (UK) experience.
