Sales Account Manager

This is a commercially focused account-management role combining outstanding customer service with proactive sales activity. You'll manage and develop existing customer accounts, identify opportunities for growth and build trusted, long-lasting relationships.
What you'll be doing
- Proactively contact existing customers by telephone and email.
- Manage and develop a portfolio of customer accounts.
- Identify opportunities to increase revenue and profitability.
- Analyse customer accounts to uncover additional product and sales opportunities.
- Promote relevant existing and new products to customers.
- Arrange appointments for Business Development Managers.
- Manage quotation requests and follow up on outstanding opportunities.
- Work with internal teams to confirm stock availability, pricing and delivery schedules.
- Maintain accurate customer, project and opportunity information within the CRM.
- Use CRM and ERP systems to identify opportunities for account growth.
- Develop an in-depth understanding of each customer, including key contacts, decision-makers and changing business needs.
- Schedule and support customer account reviews with Business Development Managers and Sales Support.
- Research relevant industry trends and recommend suitable products or ranges.
- Monitor customer feedback and NPS scores to identify areas for improvement.
- Resolve customer complaints professionally and within agreed timescales.
- Build strong working relationships across Sales, Marketing, Finance, Procurement, Fulfilment and Operations.
- Deliver a memorable and consistently high-quality service at every customer touchpoint.
- Previous account management, sales or customer-development experience within a B2B or B2C environment.
- Confidence selling over the telephone and through virtual meetings.
- A proactive and commercially minded approach.
- The ability to interpret customer data and convert insights into sales opportunities.
- Strong relationship-building and customer-service skills.
- Effective negotiation and influencing abilities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Confidence using CRM and ERP systems.
- The ability to manage your own workload and work with autonomy.
- A genuine interest in developing detailed product and industry knowledge.
- A tenacious, positive and collaborative approach.
