Sales/Contracts Trainee

Location: Poynton 
Hours: Monday–Thursday 8:45am-5:00pm, Friday 8:45am-4:30pm

Salary: National minumum wage 

An exciting opportunity to develop a career within the steel stockholding industry. The successful candidate will receive hands-on training across sales, customer service, account management, and commercial operations, gaining valuable technical and commercial knowledge to support future career progression.

• Build and maintain strong working relationships with existing customers.
• Identify and develop new business opportunities through proactive sales activity and cold calling.
• Process customer enquiries, quotations, and sales orders accurately and efficiently.
• Negotiate pricing, delivery schedules, and specifications to meet customer requirements.
• Liaise with suppliers and internal teams to ensure smooth order progression.
• Monitor stock levels and maintain accurate sales records using company systems.
• Follow up on quotations, enquiries, and outstanding orders to maximise sales opportunities.
• Promote current and new product lines to prospective and existing customers.
• Deliver excellent customer service and resolve issues professionally.
• Work towards achieving and exceeding KPI’s and sales targets once fully trained.

• Follow company Health & Safety and Quality Assurance procedures.
• Attend training sessions to support ongoing development.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives across the business.
• Carry out additional duties as required by management.
