The Role

We are looking for an experienced Sales Executive to join an established business based in Walsall, supplying safety, construction and site equipment to customers across the infrastructure and construction sectors.

This is an existing account management and sales role, focused on developing and growing a portfolio of established customer accounts rather than cold calling or new business development.

You will build strong customer relationships, understand their requirements, manage enquiries and quotations, and identify opportunities to increase revenue and customer spend.

The business offers an extensive range of more than 5,000 products, including PPE and workwear, traffic management equipment, safety and lifting products and general site equipment. It also provides bespoke signage and steel fabrication, alongside specialist servicing, calibration and inspection of safety and lifting equipment.

Key Responsibilities Account Management & Sales Growth
  • Manage and develop a portfolio of existing key customer accounts.
  • Build strong, long-term relationships with customers.
  • Understand customer requirements and identify opportunities to increase account spend.
  • Promote relevant products and services across the wider product range.
  • Work towards agreed revenue, account growth and order conversion targets.
  • Proactively manage accounts to encourage repeat business and secure future orders.
Quotations & Customer Enquiries
  • Prepare accurate and timely quotations.
  • Follow up on outstanding quotations and identify opportunities to convert enquiries into orders.
  • Handle customer enquiries professionally and efficiently.
  • Provide appropriate product and service guidance to customers.
  • Maintain accurate records of customer communications and opportunities.
Order Processing & Customer Service
  • Process customer orders and requisitions accurately and promptly.
  • Ensure all information required to complete orders is obtained from customers.
  • Keep customers updated regarding stock availability, transport and delivery schedules.
  • Resolve customer queries and issues promptly, escalating where required.
  • Monitor orders to help ensure they are delivered accurately, on time and in full.
Internal Coordination
  • Work closely with procurement, logistics and stores teams to ensure successful order fulfilment.
  • Maintain effective communication with suppliers and internal departments.
  • Manage incoming customer requests and ensure they are prioritised and actioned.
  • Support the returns and credit processes where required.
Systems & Compliance
  • Ensure customer communications, orders and supporting documentation are accurately recorded within company systems.
  • Use CRM and other internal systems efficiently and accurately.
  • Work within company processes, SLAs and KPIs.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of sales and customer service processes.
  • Comply with company HSEQ policies and procedures.
About You

We are looking for someone with previous sales or account management experience who is confident managing existing customer relationships and taking ownership of a portfolio of accounts.

You will ideally have:

  • Previous sales or account management experience.
  • A proven track record of developing existing accounts and increasing customer spend.
  • Experience working towards sales, revenue and account growth targets.
  • Strong customer relationship management skills.
  • Excellent influencing and negotiation skills.
  • Confidence handling quotations and customer enquiries.
  • Strong organisation and attention to detail.
  • Experience using CRM and other computer systems.
  • The ability to manage a high volume of calls, enquiries and orders while maintaining accuracy.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • The ability to work collaboratively with sales, procurement, logistics and stores teams.
  • A proactive, customer-focused approach to account management.
Desirable Experience
  • Product knowledge or experience within construction, infrastructure or traffic management.
  • Experience working with PPE, workwear, safety equipment, lifting equipment or site equipment.
  • Experience using SOP systems such as Insphire.

Experience within construction, traffic management or another product-led environment would be advantageous but is not essential.
