Sales Manager / Business Development Manager

Location: Hybrid (UK) – Home-based with travel to the London office at least once per month, together with regular client visits and travel as required.
Salary: £45,000 - £60,000 basic salary DOE + uncapped commission (OTE £70,000+)

The Role

Our client is seeking an experienced Sales Manager / Business Development Manager to take ownership of the complete sales cycle across professional audio equipment sales and installation projects.

This is a hands-on business development role focused on generating new business opportunities while managing and developing existing customer relationships. The successful candidate will be responsible for identifying new markets, expanding revenue streams and helping drive continued business growth within the professional audio and live events sector.

This is a hybrid position, primarily home-based, with attendance at the company's London office required at least once per month. The role also involves regular travel to customer sites, networking events and industry exhibitions throughout the UK. Candidates will be required to use their own vehicle for business travel, with mileage expenses reimbursed.

Key Responsibilities
  • Identify, develop and secure new business opportunities.
  • Build strong relationships with prospective customers and convert opportunities into long-term partnerships.
  • Manage and grow existing customer accounts while maintaining excellent levels of customer satisfaction.
  • Prepare quotations, proposals and associated sales documentation.
  • Manage sales opportunities from initial enquiry through to order completion and after-sales support.
  • Maintain an active sales pipeline, produce revenue forecasts and report on sales performance.
  • Provide customers with technical, product and commercial guidance where required.
  • Support the delivery, handover and operational coordination of completed sales projects.
  • Research new manufacturers, technologies and product ranges to strengthen the company's offering.
  • Contribute to sales and marketing initiatives, including digital and e-commerce opportunities.
  • Represent the business at industry exhibitions, networking events and customer meetings.
  • Work closely with internal technical and operational teams to ensure successful project delivery and outstanding customer service.

Skills & ExperienceThe successful candidate will ideally possess:
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the confidence to represent the business professionally.
  • A positive, enthusiastic and personable approach with the ability to build lasting customer relationships.
  • High levels of motivation, initiative and commercial awareness.
  • Fluent written and spoken English.
  • A minimum of five years' experience in business development, field sales or account management within a specialist B2B environment.
  • A proven track record of achieving sales targets and developing long-term customer relationships.
  • Good knowledge of the professional audio, AV, live events or technical production industries.
  • Strong commercial and negotiation skills.
  • The ability to prioritise workloads and make sound decisions under pressure.
  • Excellent presentation skills and confidence when meeting clients.
  • Strong IT skills, including experience using CRM systems.
  • High levels of integrity, professionalism and attention to detail.
  • A full UK Driving Licence and access to your own vehicle are essential. Business mileage will be reimbursed.
  • A valid passport and willingness to travel throughout the UK, and occasionally internationally if required.
