Sales Manager - Steel Processing in Birstall, Kirklees

Our client is an established processing and profiling business based in Yorkshire, providing a broad range of services including laser cutting, precision profiling and post-cutting / finishing.

As part of continued growth, they are looking to appoint an experienced Sales Manager / Business Development Manager to develop new business, strengthen existing customer relationships and help drive the commercial growth of the business.

The role

This would suit someone with a strong sales background within steel, metal processing, fabrication, profiling, sheet metal or a closely related engineering/manufacturing environment.

The role will combine account development with proactive new business activity, working with customers across manufacturing, engineering, construction and related sectors.

Key responsibilities include:

• Developing new business opportunities across the steel processing and fabrication market
• Managing and growing existing customer accounts
• Building relationships with engineering, manufacturing and procurement contacts
• Identifying opportunities across laser cutting, plasma cutting, profiling and associated services
• Working closely with estimating, production and operational teams to develop commercially viable solutions
• Preparing quotations, negotiating commercial terms and progressing opportunities through to order
• Building and maintaining a structured sales pipeline
• Developing longer-term strategic customer relationships
• Monitoring market activity and identifying new sectors and areas for growth
• Person specification
• Previous B2B sales experience within steel, metal processing, fabrication, engineering or a closely related sector
• Good understanding of manufacturing and technical sales environments
• Proven ability to develop new business as well as grow existing accounts
• Commercially aware and comfortable discussing pricing, margins and customer requirements
• Strong relationship-building and communication skills
• Self-motivated, organised and comfortable managing your own pipeline
• Full UK driving licence

Experience of laser cutting, plasma cutting, steel profiling, sheet metal processing or fabrication would be advantageous.
