Saw Operator & Paint Operative

Location: Birtley
Hours: 38 hours per week (Overtime available) 
Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience

CDM Recruitment is working with a well-established client in the steel fabrication industry who are looking to recruit an experienced Fabrication Painter & Sawyer.

The role will involve cutting, preparing and painting steel sections and fabricated components within a busy workshop environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Operating bandsaws to cut steel accurately to drawings and cutting lists.
• Preparing steel components through grinding, cleaning and deburring.
• Applying primers, topcoats and protective industrial coatings.
• Using brushes, rollers and spray equipment.
• Ensuring all work meets quality and safety standards.
• Loading and unloading materials using a forklift and overhead crane.
• Maintaining good housekeeping and safe working practices.

The Ideal Candidate

• Previous experience in steel fabrication, engineering or manufacturing.
• Experience operating mechanical saws.
• Experience with industrial painting/coatings.
• Able to read engineering drawings and cutting lists.
• Good attention to detail and a strong work ethic.
• Forklift licence would be advantageous.
• Overhead crane experience would be beneficial.

Time-served candidates with relevant experience will also be considered.
