As a Sawmill Machine Operative, your responsibilities will include:

  • Selecting timber boards for sawing and machining
  • Operating rip saws, bandsaws, beam saw and moulders to fulfil works orders
  • Maximising yield from every piece of timber processed
  • Accurately tallying sawn and machined timber onto production paperwork
  • Stacking, banding and labelling completed orders safely and presentably
  • Maintaining a clean, tidy and safe work area

As a Sawmill Machine Operative, your experience will include:

  • Previous experience operating machinery in a timber or sawmill environment
  • A relevant certificate, diploma or degree in timber machining (preferred, not essential)
  • Strong basic maths and a good standard of general education
  • Physically fit and comfortable with manual handling of heavy timber
  • Forklift licence (preferred but not essential)
  • A methodical, disciplined and safety focused approach to work
