SC Cleared Project Manager - 12 Months FTC - 3 Days a week onsite in Newcastle or Birmingham

  • Context: Large UK health/public sector client
  • Project: Transforming the client’s observability/monitoring platform – migrating from a legacy monitoring solution to a modern observability platform (e.g. Dynatrace) across the estate.
  • Team Model: Multidisciplinary, hybrid-delivery team with a delivery lead and technical SMEs/estimators supporting the PM.
Experience & Domain
  • Public sector experience – ideally UK government / health & public sector.
  • Complex transformation delivery:
    • Comfort operating in complex, multi-system environments.
    • Experience managing technical transformation and modernisation work (e.g. retiring legacy stacks, upgrading Java/Spring Boot, large-scale tech refresh).
  • Exposure to DevOps environments:
    • Doesn’t have to be hands-on engineer, but should understand DevOps-focused delivery, tooling, and ways of working.
  • Strong project management track record:
    • Planning and running delivery for complex technical programmes.
    • Coordinating multidisciplinary teams and managing stakeholders.
    • Working closely with a delivery lead and technical SMEs rather than being the sole lead.
  • Baseline: BPSS is acceptable, especially for non-production work.
  • Preferred: SC clearance (or at least SC-eligible) is strongly preferred, particularly as the PM’s remit and exposure grow. Client will prioritise candidates with existing SC if possible.
Ways of Working
  • Comfortable operating in a hybrid model:
    • Agile ways of working (scrum/kanban, ceremonies) “as agile as possible”.
    • But also able to handle T&M / SoW constraints and bring Agile + commercial/contractual realities together.
  • Able to work within consulting-style expectations:
    • “T-shaped consultant” mindset – some flexibility to stretch across activities and adapt to different demands within the account.
  • Primary location: Newcastle (core team is Newcastle-based).
  • Secondary location: Birmingham (some core team members there; they travel to Newcastle roughly every three weeks
