The Opportunity
Our Client; a well-recognised and respected Materials Handling company who are among the world's largest suppliers of Automated Warehouse and Materials Handling solutions, are now actively seeking an experienced SCADA Visualization Engineer, to support their customer onsite 5 days per week in Leicestershire on a contract basis. This contract will initially run until the end of the year, but there is the chance of this seeing extension beyond this point and into 2027. This contract is paying circa £47 per hour (inside IR35).

As their SCADA Visualization Engineer, you will be creating the visualization concept and the specification within the cost and time constraints of a material handling programme while ensuring that the visualization methods and standards meet the requirements of the project.

Detailed duties and responsibilities will be:
  • Deliver the assigned project scope and tasks by meetingexceeding our safety, quality, On-Time-Delivery and budget requirements.
  • Defining the visualization concept and creating specifications.
  • Editing the overview layouts and customer-specific documents.
  • Clarifying order details internally with other departments and externally with customers and suppliers.
  • Creating the entire visualization.
  • Commissioning the systems.
  • Occasional system support during the start-up phase until production is handed over.
  • Training of customer personnel and our own service employees.
You will have the following qualifications & experience:
  • Should ideally be educated with a minimum HNC/HND in Electrical/Controls Engineering, better still have a Degree, but this isn’t essential.
  • Should be an experienced SCADA Visualization Engineer who fully understand PC-based process visualization system WinCC or Iconics or Ignition (at least two would be desirable, the latter being the preference).
  • You will need a good understanding of SCADA systems and where appropriate in PLC and HMI software.
  • Hands-on experience with process visualization systems is needed.
  • Good understanding in the installation and configuration of computer systems and server systems is also required.  
  • Should ideally have an ECS card, or at the very least be able to get one to work onsite at the customer.
It’s great if you also have the following:
  • You should ideally be Gold Certified in Ignition, but this isn’t essential.
  • Ability to design graphical (user) interfaces.
  • Able to create advanced engineering (editors or functions: Tag, Graphics, Alarm, Server/Client, Redundancy, Web Navigator, Multi-Server).
  • Experience in Visual Basic Script (VBS), Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) and the programming language C, C++.
  • Experience in carrying out project migrations and designing interfaces.
