Scheme Manager

Location: Broxbourne
Salary: £28,899 (37.5 hours)
Monday to Friday (suggested: 9am - 5:30pm)

ROLE OVERVIEW

The Scheme Manager is responsible for both the day-to-day management of the scheme and the maintenance and repair of the building, communal areas and gardens. The postholder will support residents aged 55+ to live independently, while ensuring the scheme is well maintained, safe and aesthetically appealing. A key part of the role includes regular maintenance of the communal gardens.

What you will be doing

  • Supporting residents’ wellbeing through regular contact and day-to-day oversight, including daily welfare checks.
  • Responding to emergency calls and coordinating support when needed
  • Encouraging social activities and building a strong inclusive community spirit
  • Liaising with families, GPs and external agencies to support residents
  • Overseeing communal areas and working with contractors to maintain high standards
  • Carrying out health & safety checks and ensuring compliance
Gardening & Grounds Maintenance
  • Maintain gardens, lawns and planted areas
  • Carry out planting, including seasonal bedding
  • Weeding, pruning, hedge cutting and lawn care
  • Maintain and clear paths and communal outdoor areas
  • Use weed control safely
  • Maintain tools and equipment
  • Improve outdoor spaces
  • Keep outdoor areas safe and presentable
Maintenance & Repairs
  • Carry out minor repairs and maintenance
  • Change lightbulbs, fuses and batteries
  • Report repairs and to liaise with the Repairs Team and contractors.

  • Experience of working with older customers
  • Calm and confident in emergencies
