• Ongoing Temporary Position

Start Date: Monday 2nd November 2026

Candidates must be flexible and able to work both early and late shifts as required.

Working Hours

Trial Week:

• Monday to Friday
• 9:00am - 5:00pm

Thereafter (Rotating Shift Pattern):

• 6:30am - 1:30pm
• 1:30pm - 9:30pm

We are currently seeking a reliable and proactive School Caretaker to join the team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with maintenance, facilities, or caretaker experience who enjoys a hands-on role and takes pride in maintaining a safe, clean, and well-presented environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Open and secure school buildings each day.
• Carry out basic maintenance, repairs, and decorating tasks.
• Undertake minor repairs to fixtures and fittings.
• Ensure all plant and equipment is maintained to the required standard.
• Keep school grounds clean, safe, and tidy.
• Conduct routine health and safety checks.
• Set up classrooms, halls, chairs, tables, and equipment for school events and activities.
• Monitor heating, lighting, and security systems.
• Respond promptly to day-to-day site issues and maintenance requests.
• Liaise with contractors and supervise site visits.
• Manage waste disposal and recycling procedures.
• Respond to emergency maintenance issues when required.
• Ensure compliance with safeguarding, health & safety, and school policies.

Requirements

• Previous caretaker, maintenance, facilities, or site operative experience preferred.
• Good practical maintenance and DIY skills.
• Reliable, hardworking, and able to work independently.
• Flexible approach to working hours.
• Strong awareness of health and safety procedures.
• Enhanced DBS Certificate required.
