Job Description – School Caretaker | Slough

We are seeking a reliable, hardworking and experienced School Caretaker to maintain the safety, cleanliness and general upkeep of a school site in Slough. The ideal candidate will have strong maintenance experience, a practical hands-on approach and the ability to work independently while supporting the wider school team.

Key Responsibilities:

• Carry out general maintenance, minor repairs and basic DIY tasks across the school premises.
• Ensure classrooms, corridors, toilets, outdoor areas and communal spaces are safe, clean and well maintained.
• Conduct regular site inspections and report any maintenance issues, hazards or security concerns.
• Assist with opening and closing the school, including securing buildings and checking access points.
• Support health and safety procedures and ensure the school environment remains safe for pupils, staff and visitors.
• Move furniture, set up rooms and assist with school events when required.
• Monitor maintenance supplies and report any equipment or repair requirements.
• Respond promptly to maintenance requests and carry out additional caretaking duties as needed.

Requirements:

• Previous experience in maintenance, facilities or caretaking.
• Full UK driving licence.
• Enhanced DBS certificate registered on the Update Service.
• Good practical skills, a proactive attitude and strong attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Available to start immediately.
