School Caretaker / Site Manager - Secondary School
Location: Tower Hamlets, East London
Hours: Full-time, 7:00am - 4:00pm
Start: ASAP
Pay: Competitive, depending on experience

Remedy Education is working with a specialist SEMH school in Tower Hamlets that is looking for an experienced, reliable and highly proactive Site Manager to take responsibility for the day-to-day running of the school premises.

This is a key position within the school. You will be the main person responsible for ensuring the site is safe, secure, compliant and properly maintained, so we need someone who takes real ownership of their work.

You must have excellent awareness around the building and be able to spot potential maintenance, security or health & safety issues before they become a problem. You should be confident working independently, prioritising your own workload and getting things done without needing to be constantly directed or reminded.

• Take day-to-day responsibility for the safety, security and maintenance of the school site

• Carry out regular site inspections and identify maintenance or health & safety concerns

• Proactively spot and resolve issues around the premises

• Manage contractors, repairs and ongoing maintenance works

• Complete and maintain health & safety checks, records and site documentation

• Support with fire safety, emergency procedures, risk assessments and compliance

• Ensure entrances, exits, gates, equipment and communal areas remain safe and secure

• Open and secure the school premises where required

• Manage site stock, equipment and maintenance supplies

• Respond quickly and calmly to urgent site issues

• Use email, Microsoft Office and electronic school/site systems confidently

• Previous experience as a Site Manager, Caretaker, Facilities Manager or similar

• Strong health & safety knowledge and awareness is essential

• Excellent attention to detail - you need to notice when something isn't right

• A proactive attitude and the ability to work without waiting to be instructed

• Confident working independently and taking responsibility for the school site

• Very good IT skills and confidence using computers, email, electronic records and Microsoft Office

• Practical, organised and able to prioritise multiple site issues

• Reliable, punctual and comfortable being a key point of responsibility within the school

• Previous school experience is highly desirable

• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one
