School Caretaker

A welcoming and well-established secondary school in Barking & Dagenham is looking for a reliable and hardworking School Caretaker to join their premises team.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced caretaker, facilities assistant or someone with strong practical skills who is looking for flexible shift work within a school environment.

As a School Caretaker, you will help ensure the school site is safe, secure, clean and well maintained. Duties will include:

• Opening and securing the school premises
• Carrying out general maintenance and minor repairs
• Supporting the smooth running of the school site
• Completing routine health and safety checks
• Assisting with deliveries and contractors
• Maintaining outdoor areas and communal spaces
• Reporting any maintenance or security issues
• Responding to day-to-day site requirements
• Ensuring the school provides a safe and welcoming environment for students and staff

We are looking for someone who is:

• Reliable, punctual and hardworking
• Practical and confident carrying out basic maintenance
• Able to work independently and as part of a team
• Flexible and willing to work different shifts
• Friendly and professional when dealing with staff, students and visitors
• Experienced in a caretaker, facilities, maintenance or similar role

Previous experience working within a school is desirable but not essential.
