Actual Annual Salary: £24832 - £25828 depending on experience

School Staffing Solutions are working with a brand new school, opening its doors in January 2027, and we're looking for a dedicated Cleaner to help create a safe, welcoming and well-maintained environment for our pupils and staff from day one.
It will be a nurturing, inclusive and ambitious school for children and young people aged 5-19 with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. With a capacity of 96 students, our vision is to create a safe, enriching and aspirational environment where every learner can thrive.
Your Role
As our Cleaner, you'll play an important role in maintaining a clean, safe and welcoming school environment for pupils, staff and visitors.
Working across classrooms, offices, corridors, toilets and communal areas, you'll help ensure the school is presented to a high standard while supporting health, safety and hygiene requirements across the site.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Cleaning classrooms, offices, toilets, corridors and communal areas to a high standard
- Vacuuming, mopping and maintaining both hard and soft floor surfaces
- Emptying bins and replenishing hygiene and janitorial supplies Dusting, wiping and cleaning furniture, fixtures, fittings and surfaces throughout the school
- Carrying out daily, weekly and monthly cleaning schedules and checklists
- Safely using cleaning products and equipment in line with COSHH and health and safety guidance
- Reporting any defects, maintenance concerns or hazards to the School Business Manager
About You

- An understanding of the importance of confidentiality
- Knowledge of health and safety requirements and the safe use of cleaning products, or a willingness to learn
- A good level of fitness and the ability to carry out manual handling tasks safely
- Experience of cleaning within a school and/or special needs environment (desirable)
Candidates must:
- Proven experience as a Cleaner or Housekeeper using machinery
- Ability to work with little supervision and maintain a high level of performance
- Customer-oriented and friendly
- Prioritisation and time management skills
- Working quickly without compromising quality
- Experience in supporting in the care or education industry
- An understanding of working with people with a disability (desirable)
- Be committed to being neuro-informed and neuro-affirmative as expected by all our staff and be able to communicate effectively with our young people and their families
Key Accountabilities
- Prioritising safeguarding in all work.
- To be responsible for cleaning and to use cleaning materials as directed by the product details and to operate cleaning machinery in cleaning soft and hard surfaces, e.g. vacuum cleaners.
- To respond to incidents during the school day, to ensure cleanliness is maintained throughout.
- To use and abide by a daily, weekly and monthly check lists to ensure a thorough cleaning is carried out.
- All members of staff are part of a team. We expect everyone to work collaboratively and positively in the interests of our young people.
- As an employee your absolute priority is to safeguard the young people in our care. You must work professionally, effectively, and sensitively to ensure that all young people are safe and feel safe with any concerns listened to and acted upon appropriately.
- We expect all employees to accurately, factually, and professionally report any incidents involving young people, including safeguarding and prevent, to the appropriate person (Team Leader/Designated Safeguarding Officer/Safeguarding Team). We expect all reporting incidents to take place within 24 hours of the incident.
