Smile Education are recruiting for an experienced Operations Manager to work across a handful of School sites, based primarily at their main site in West Bromwich.

This is a full-time role supporting the effective operational running of the organisation, with a strong focus on health and safety, compliance, HR processes, and site management support.

This is a non-student-facing role, ideal for an experienced operations, facilities, compliance, or education-based professional who is confident managing processes, audits, reporting, and working collaboratively with senior leaders.
The RoleAs an Operations Manager, you will play a key role in supporting the smooth day-to-day operation of the School sites. You will work closely with the Site Manager, Business Manager, and HR Manager to ensure compliance, safety standards, and operational procedures are maintained.
Responsibilities
  • Leading on Health & Safety processes, including reports, audits, compliance checks, and corrective actions
  • Supporting Site Managers with operational tasks and site-based requirements
  • Completing reports, monitoring actions, and ensuring improvements are implemented
  • Supporting HR processes, including absence management meetings and related administration
  • Working alongside the Business Manager and HR Manager to deliver key operational objectives
  • Ensuring policies and procedures are followed across all sites
  • Identifying areas for improvement and supporting effective solutions
  • Maintaining accurate records and documentation
  • Providing general operational support to senior management teams
Requirements
  • Previous experience working in an Operations Manager, Site Manager, Facilities Manager, Compliance Manager, or similar role
  • Strong understanding of Health & Safety processes, audits, and compliance requirements
  • Experience managing reports, investigations, and corrective actions
  • Knowledge of HR processes, including absence management
  • Excellent organisational and administrative skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to work with a range of stakeholders
  • Experience within an education, public sector, or similar environment is desirable
  • Enhanced DBS Certificate or willingness to obtain one
  • Fully vetted and available to start when required
