Weβre looking for an experienced Project Manager to join a professional Facilities Management team supporting a large portfolio of education sites across Birmingham.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced technical Project Manager with a strong background in asset management, lifecycle planning and project delivery, ideally within complex operational contracts.
Youβll provide technical and delivery leadership across building fabric, mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems, ensuring lifecycle projects are delivered safely, compliantly, commercially and to the required quality standards.
π« Working across an education environment, you'll play a key role in maintaining and improving critical building infrastructure while ensuring contractual, regulatory, health & safety and lifecycle requirements are consistently met.
π§ What You'll Be Doing:
ποΈ Leading the delivery of lifecycle and variation projects across the portfolio.
π Developing and managing 5-year lifecycle plans, identifying asset replacement requirements and prioritising works based on risk, condition and contractual obligations.
βοΈ Providing technical expertise across building fabric, mechanical, electrical and plumbing (MEP) systems.
π Reviewing asset condition, equipment performance and maintenance requirements to identify potential failures, obsolescence and lifecycle risks.
π Producing and reviewing scopes of works, client briefs, specifications and technical documentation.
π οΈ Managing contractors and FM suppliers to ensure projects are delivered in accordance with agreed specifications, legislation, British Standards and best industry practice.
π¦Ί Undertaking SHEQ, CDM and construction-related activities, including site safety visits and monitoring contractor compliance.
π Monitoring project progress, risks, costs and performance, providing regular reports to internal teams and stakeholders.
π· Managing annual and five-year lifecycle budgets, including forecasting, reforecasting, variations, receipting and month-end requirements.
π Investigating equipment failures and identifying root causes, providing technical evidence to support commercial decisions.
π Ensuring project documentation, drawings, O&Ms and associated records are maintained accurately to support long-term asset management and handback requirements.
π€ Working closely with Commercial, Lifecycle, FM and operational teams to resolve issues and minimise commercial and operational risk.
π Identifying opportunities for continuous improvement, sustainability and more effective asset replacement strategies.

π·ββοΈ What We're Looking For:
ποΈ Proven experience in a Project Management, Asset Management or Lifecycle Management role.
βοΈ A time-served technical background in electrical, mechanical or building services.
π§ Excellent knowledge of building fabric and M&E disciplines.
π In-depth knowledge of relevant processes, procedures and quality assurance requirements.
ποΈ Strong understanding of relevant regulatory and legislative requirements.
πΌ Strong commercial and financial awareness, including proven experience with budgetary control and forecasting.
π HNC or equivalent qualification in an engineering discipline.
π¦Ί NEBOSH or IOSH accredited.
ποΈ SMSTS qualification.
π Understanding of ISO 15001, construction health & safety legislation and CDM requirements.
π Strong understanding of project management methodologies.
π€ Excellent stakeholder management, communication, motivation and influencing skills.
π Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a proactive approach to identifying and managing risks.
π Ability and willingness to travel as required by the role.
β Desirable:
π Degree-level qualification.
π Asset Management Diploma.
π’ Demonstrable technical experience within complex operational PFI contracts.
π Strong understanding of PFI contract structures and lifecycle requirements.
ποΈ Experience managing lifecycle replacement programmes and complex building infrastructure projects.
