A Science Technician is needed in a Coeducational Secondary School & Sixth Form in South West London.
This will be a part time long term Science Technician position.
The timetable for this Science Technician post can be any 3 full days of the week or 5 half day mornings across Monday to Friday.
Working hours for this Science Technician role will be 8am to 4pm for full days and 8am to 12pm for the half day mornings.
Responsibilities for this Science Technician position will include but not be limited to:
- Assisting and preparing practical lessons alongside the Science Teachers
- Ensuring equipment and materials are safely stored when not in use
- Guiding staff and pupils in correct Health & Safety policies
- Maintaining and repairing all resources when required
- Keeping track of what is out of stock and making the necessary orders when needed
- Disposing of hazardous waste in a safe manner
The rates of pay for this Science Technician post will be between £14.25 to £20 per hour, depending on the qualifications and experiences of each applicant.
The School
A Mixed Academy for pupils aged 11 to 18 years old, located in the London Borough of Merton.
It was established in 2006 and there are currently just under 1300 pupils on enrolment.
The site has its own dedicated SEN Support Centre and a variety of sports facilities.
Ofsted have noted there is positive culture of learning and a strong sense of community.
Requirements
You're welcome to apply if you're a recent Science Graduate or experienced school Science Technician.
Applications are also welcome if you're British trained Science Technician or overseas trained Science Technician.
All applicants must have the following in order to be considered for this role as a Science Technician:
- Right to work in the UK
- Clear and up to date Enhanced DBS
- UK Science Degree or overseas equivalent
- COSHH trained/basic Health & Safety knowledge
- Experience in a lab setting or as a Science Technician in a UK school
