A secondary school in Hemel Hempstead is looking for an enthusiastic and organised Science Technician to join their established Science Department for an ASAP start.
Science Technician – The Role
As a Science Technician, you will play an important role in supporting the delivery of practical science lessons across the school. You will work closely with teaching staff to ensure lessons are properly prepared, well resourced and carried out safely.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Preparing and setting up equipment and materials for practical lessons
- Supporting teachers with practical demonstrations and experiments
- Ensuring laboratories and preparation areas are organised and maintained
- Safely handling, storing and preparing chemicals and scientific materials
- Maintaining and checking scientific equipment
- Ensuring practical activities meet health and safety requirements
- Managing stock and maintaining accurate records
- Troubleshooting practical and technical issues when required
- Working closely with teachers to ensure lessons run smoothly
- Supporting students in developing their practical science skills and understanding
The school is looking for someone who is organised, reliable, practical and enthusiastic about science. You should be able to manage a varied workload, prioritise tasks effectively and work confidently both independently and as part of a team.
