An enthusiastic and dedicated English Teacher is required to join an Outstanding secondary school based in Watford, Hertfordshire, starting in September 2026.

The successful candidate will teach English Language and Literature across Key Stages 3 and 4 and will join a thriving, supportive, and well-established English department. Applications are welcomed from both ECTs and experienced teachers.

The Role

  • Teach English Language and Literature across KS3 and KS4.
  • Plan, prepare and deliver engaging and challenging lessons.
  • Assess, monitor and support student progress.
  • Contribute to the continued success of the English department.
  • Create a positive and inclusive learning environment that enables all students to achieve their potential.

Working Pattern: Full-Time

Salary: MPS/UPS - Fringe Pay Scale

Hours: 8:00am - 3:30pm/4:00pm, plus parents' evenings




Person Specification

The successful candidate will have:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
  • A PGCE, SCITT, Teach First or equivalent teacher training qualification.
  • A degree in English or a related subject.
  • Excellent subject knowledge and classroom management skills.
  • A genuine passion for inspiring young people and raising attainment.
  • The ability to work effectively as part of a collaborative department.
