Secondary Teaching Assistant - Long-Term Opportunity (September Start)

Are you passionate about supporting young people to achieve their full potential? Tradewind Education is recruiting a dedicated and enthusiastic Secondary Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming and inclusive secondary school in Sheffield from September on a long-term basis.

The Role

As a Secondary Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers and support staff to provide high-quality classroom support across a range of subjects. You will help students overcome barriers to learning, encourage engagement, and contribute to a positive and inclusive learning environment.



Key Responsibilities

  • Support teachers in delivering engaging and effective lessons.
  • Work with individuals and small groups of students to reinforce learning.
  • Provide additional support for students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) where required.
  • Promote positive behaviour and help maintain a productive classroom environment.
  • Assist with preparing learning resources and classroom activities.
  • Monitor student progress and provide feedback to teaching staff.
  • Encourage student confidence, independence, and participation.
  • Support students pastorally, helping to promote their wellbeing and engagement in school life.
  • Follow school safeguarding, behaviour, and health and safety policies at all times.


Requirements

  • Previous experience working with children or young people, ideally within a secondary school setting.
  • A genuine passion for supporting students and helping them succeed.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with students and staff.
  • A patient, adaptable, and proactive approach to supporting learning.
  • Strong organisational and teamwork skills.
  • An enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.
  • The right to work in the UK.
  • Relevant qualifications (such as Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant, CACHE, or equivalent) are desirable but not essential.
