Section Engineer Devonport Dockyard, Plymouth

 

Carmichael UK is recruiting for an experienced Section Engineer to join a major infrastructure programme at Devonport Dockyard in Plymouth.

This is an excellent opportunity to work with a leading Tier 1 contractor on the delivery of complex heavy civil engineering and reinforced concrete structures within a highly regulated environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and coordinate allocated sections of works to ensure safe and efficient delivery.

  • Supervise reinforced concrete packages including formwork, rebar, concrete pours and associated civils activities.

  • Produce, review and implement RAMS, ITPs, permits and quality documentation.

  • Plan and coordinate works using short-term and three-week look-ahead programmes.

  • Ensure works are delivered in accordance with drawings, specifications and programme requirements.

  • Manage subcontractors and site teams.

  • Carry out setting out, quality inspections and verification of completed works.

  • Work closely with construction, commercial, planning and quality teams.

  • Maintain high standards of health, safety, environment and quality.

Essential Requirements
  • Must be British or NATO National

  • Previous experience as a Section Engineer on major civil engineering or infrastructure projects.

  • Strong reinforced concrete experience is essential.

  • Experience managing subcontractors and coordinating site activities.

  • Competent in RAMS, ITPs, quality assurance and inspection processes.

  • Setting out experience using Leica or Trimble equipment.

  • Good understanding of temporary works procedures.

  • HNC/HND or Degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline.

  • CSCS Card.

Desirable
  • Experience on marine, defence, nuclear, heavy civils or major infrastructure projects.

  • SMSTS or SSSTS.

  • Temporary Works Coordinator/Supervisor qualification.

  • Security clearance or ability to obtain clearance.
