Section Engineer in Hindley, Borough of Wigan

🚧 JOB OPPORTUNITY – SECTION ENGINEER 🚧

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Section Engineer to join a major rail infrastructure project based in Hindley.

The project will involve significant civil engineering and railway infrastructure works, with a key focus on the replacement and installation of footbridges, alongside associated structural and civils packages.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Overseeing the replacement and installation of new footbridges.
• Managing and supervising day-to-day engineering activities on site.
• Setting out works and ensuring construction is delivered in accordance with approved drawings and specifications.
• Coordinating subcontractors and site teams to ensure works are completed safely and efficiently.
• Managing quality assurance, inspections and site documentation.
• Monitoring progress against programme and identifying any engineering issues.
• Ensuring all works comply with relevant health, safety and railway standards.
• Working closely with the wider project and engineering teams to deliver the works.

Essential requirements:

• Valid and in-date PTS (Personal Track Safety).
• Previous experience as a Section Engineer within rail, civil engineering or infrastructure projects.
• Experience with structural works, bridge installations or replacements would be advantageous.
• Strong setting-out and technical engineering knowledge.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
• Good communication and organisational skills.
