Are you an experienced Section Engineer or Senior Engineer looking to join a leading civil engineering contractor delivering major infrastructure projects across the South East?
Due to continued project success across Hampshire and Sussex, our client is looking to recruit an additional Section Engineer or Senior Engineer to support the delivery of a growing portfolio of highways, structures and infrastructure schemes. With a strong pipeline of secured work and further projects currently being tendered, this is an excellent opportunity to join a business offering long-term career development and exposure to a diverse range of civil engineering projects.
The successful candidate will ideally be based in Hampshire or Sussex and will have previous experience working for a main contractor on civil engineering, highways, drainage, earthworks, reinforced concrete and infrastructure projects.
You'll play a key role in the successful delivery of projects, taking responsibility for setting out, quality assurance, engineering records and supporting the site management team to ensure works are delivered safely, efficiently and to programme.
Key Duties:
- Carry out setting out duties using Leica, Trimble or equivalent surveying equipment.
- Liaise closely with Site Agents, Project Managers and site management teams to deliver engineering activities across your allocated section.
- Complete quality take-offs and assist with engineering control throughout the project lifecycle.
- Produce and review Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS) and support safe systems of work.
- Carry out inspections and testing to ensure compliance with specifications, Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs) and quality assurance procedures.
- Manage sectional setting out requirements and maintain accurate engineering records.
- Coordinate utility drawings, service plans and issue permits where required.
- Produce and maintain accurate as-built surveys and site records.
- Support the Quantity Surveyor and Project Manager by providing engineering information for valuations, variations and compensation events.
- Identify technical and commercial risks, escalating issues where appropriate.
- Mentor and support Graduate Engineers and Junior Engineers.
- Ensure all work is completed in accordance with company Health & Safety, Quality and Environmental standards.
Required Skills:
- HNC/HND or Degree in Civil Engineering (or equivalent).
- Valid CSCS Card.
- SMSTS qualification.
- Previous experience as a Section Engineer, Senior Engineer or Site Engineer working on civil engineering or infrastructure projects.
- Strong knowledge of setting out, surveying techniques and quality assurance procedures.
- Experience working on highways, structures, drainage, earthworks, reinforced concrete (RC) and general infrastructure schemes.
- Working knowledge of NEC3 and/or NEC4 forms of contract.
- Competent using AutoCAD, Microsoft Office and surveying software.
- Experience using Leica, Trimble or similar GPS/Total Station equipment.
- Strong communication, organisational and leadership skills.
- Full UK driving licence with flexibility to travel across the South East.

- Temporary Works Supervisor (TWS)
- Temporary Works Coordinator (TWC)
- NRSWA qualification
