Section Engineer – Substation & Utilities Project

Our client, Taylor Woodrow, a leading infrastructure and civil engineering specialist, is seeking an experienced Section Engineer to join our team delivering a major substation and associated utilities project in Suffolk. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role on a high-profile infrastructure scheme, ensuring works are delivered safely, efficiently, on programme and to the highest quality standards.
Working alongside the Senior Engineer and Sub Agent, you'll lead the engineering delivery of your section of works, coordinating site teams, subcontractors and stakeholders to achieve successful project outcomes.
What you'll be doing
- Leading the engineering delivery of a section of the substation and utility works.
- Planning and managing short-term programmes to meet project milestones.
- Supervising Site Engineers and coordinating subcontractors.
- Ensuring works are delivered in accordance with design specifications and quality requirements.
- Producing and reviewing Method Statements, Risk Assessments and Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs).
- Managing setting out activities and ensuring accurate site records and as-built information.
- Driving high standards of health, safety, environmental and quality compliance.
- Working collaboratively with construction teams to resolve technical challenges and maintain programme.
- Identifying opportunities to improve efficiency through innovative engineering solutions and Lean principles.
- Supporting the project's sustainability and carbon reduction objectives.
What we're looking for
- Previous experience as a Section Engineer within civil engineering, energy, utilities or major infrastructure projects.
- Experience delivering reinforced concrete, drainage, earthworks, utilities or substation works would be advantageous.
- Strong understanding of engineering drawings, setting out and construction methodologies.
- Knowledge of quality assurance processes including ITPs and inspection records.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills with the ability to coordinate multiple teams.
- A proactive approach to problem solving and continuous improvement.
- Commitment to delivering the highest standards of health, safety and quality.
