An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Section Engineer to join a major infrastructure project in Cardiff that will help transform public transport connectivity across the city.
Working as part of an experienced project team, you will be responsible for managing engineering activities across a designated section of works, ensuring delivery is achieved safely, to programme, within budget and to the highest quality standards.
This is an excellent opportunity to work on a flagship transport infrastructure scheme involving rail interfaces, highways improvements, utility diversions, public realm works and the delivery of new tram infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
- Take ownership of a section of works from planning through to completion.
- Manage Site Engineers and subcontractors to ensure works are delivered safely and efficiently.
- Ensure all works are carried out in accordance with drawings, specifications and programme requirements.
- Coordinate engineering activities and resolve technical queries with design teams and stakeholders.
- Oversee setting out activities and ensure accuracy of construction works.
- Manage quality assurance processes including ITPs, inspections and as-built records.
- Support the commercial team with measurements, progress reporting and change management.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental and quality standards.
- Review and contribute to RAMS, temporary works and permit systems.
- Liaise with clients, local authorities, utility providers and external stakeholders where required.
- Monitor subcontractor performance and ensure delivery milestones are achieved.
- Support short-term planning and programme management activities.
Candidate Requirements
- Previous experience as a Section Engineer, Senior Site Engineer or Site Engineer within civil engineering or infrastructure projects.
- Experience delivering major projects involving highways, rail, structures, utilities or public realm works.
- Strong understanding of engineering principles and construction methodologies.
- Experience managing subcontractors and coordinating multiple work packages.
- Competent in the use of Leica, Trimble or Topcon surveying equipment.
- Experience managing QA documentation and engineering records.
- Excellent communication and organisational skills.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
Desirable
- Degree, HNC or HND qualification in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
- Experience working under NEC forms of contract.
- Experience on rail, tram, transport or major infrastructure projects.
- Temporary Works Coordinator or Supervisor qualification.
- SMSTS or SSSTS.
- CSCS Card.
