Rate: Up to £750 per day

A leading cyber security consultancy is seeking an experienced Security Operations Service Design Lead to support a large government transformation programme.
The high-level target operating model and security architecture are being delivered through separate workstreams. This role will translate the agreed Security Operations design into detailed service designs, operational processes and a phased implementation roadmap.
Key responsibilities
- Develop detailed service designs for SOC and wider Security Operations capabilities.
- Define service scope, ownership, processes, workflows, governance and interfaces.
- Produce service catalogues, process maps, RACI models and accountability structures.
- Assess current-state capabilities and identify gaps, risks and dependencies.
- Define 6-, 12- and 18-month maturity outcomes.
- Develop a prioritised implementation roadmap and work packages.
- Identify opportunities for automation, standardisation and service improvement.
- Define operational KPIs, service outcomes and performance measures.
- Facilitate workshops with operational, technical and programme stakeholders.
- Ensure detailed designs align with the agreed target operating model and security architecture.
Required experience
- Extensive experience within enterprise Security Operations or Cyber Defence.
- Strong practical knowledge of SOC operations and the wider SecOps ecosystem.
- Experience translating high-level operating models into detailed service designs and roadmaps.
- Strong understanding of monitoring, detection engineering, incident response, threat intelligence and vulnerability management.
- Knowledge of SIEM, SOAR, EDR/XDR and security automation.
- Experience producing service designs, workflows, RACIs and phased transformation plans.
- Strong stakeholder management, workshop facilitation and written communication skills.
- Experience working in large, complex or regulated environments.
- Active SC clearance.
