SEMH Pastoral Support Worker – SEMH School – Romford/Basildon | September Start

Are you passionate about supporting young people and helping them overcome challenges both inside and outside the classroom?

We are working with a supportive SEMH school in the Romford/Basildon area that is looking for a dedicated and resilient SEMH Pastoral Support Worker to join their team from September.

The school provides a structured and nurturing environment for pupils with social, emotional and mental health needs. You will support pupils with their emotional wellbeing, behaviour, engagement and personal development, helping them build positive relationships and develop the confidence to succeed.

You will work closely with teachers, pastoral staff and other professionals to provide consistent, individualised support and encourage positive choices throughout the school day.

The ideal candidate will:

  • Have experience supporting young people with SEMH, behavioural or additional needs
  • Be calm, patient and confident when managing challenging behaviour
  • Have a resilient and consistent approach to supporting vulnerable pupils
  • Be able to build strong, trusting relationships while maintaining clear boundaries
  • Be passionate about supporting emotional wellbeing, confidence and independence
  • Be reliable, proactive and able to work effectively as part of a team
  • Hold a full UK driving licence and have access to a car – essential for the role

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
