KS3 Teacher – SEMH School

We are working with a specialist SEMH provision to recruit a dedicated KS3 Teacher for a full-time, long-term role starting in September. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced teacher who thrives in a supportive, nurturing environment and is confident working with pupils who require additional emotional, social and behavioural support.
The successful candidate will teach Key Stage 3 students across a range of curriculum subjects, delivering engaging, differentiated lessons that encourage pupils to achieve both academically and personally. Classes are small, allowing you to build positive relationships with students and provide the consistency and encouragement they need to succeed.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality lessons across a broad KS3 curriculum.
- Plan and adapt learning to meet the individual needs of pupils with SEMH needs.
- Establish clear routines and maintain high expectations for behaviour and learning.
- Use strong classroom and behaviour management strategies to create a calm, structured and positive learning environment.
- Build trusting relationships that support pupils' confidence, engagement and personal development.
- Work collaboratively with teaching assistants, pastoral teams and senior leaders to provide the best outcomes for every student.
- Assess, monitor and report on pupil progress, adapting teaching where required.
- Promote safeguarding, wellbeing and inclusion at all times.
The Ideal Candidate
- Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), QTLS or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
- Has experience teaching Key Stage 3 students.
- Is confident delivering a range of subjects across the KS3 curriculum.
- Has excellent classroom management and behaviour management skills.
- Is patient, resilient, adaptable and able to remain calm under pressure.
- Can motivate and inspire pupils who may have experienced barriers to learning.
- Experience working within an SEMH, SEN, alternative provision or mainstream setting supporting pupils with challenging behaviour is desirable but not essential.
