Make a real difference as an SEMH Teacher

Are you an experienced teacher looking for a new challenge, or a teacher who would like to make a genuine difference to the lives of children and young people?

We are looking for passionate and resilient Teachers to work across SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) settings, supporting pupils who may have experienced challenges with their education, behaviour, emotional wellbeing or personal circumstances.

SEMH teaching is about much more than delivering lessons. It is about building relationships, providing consistency and helping young people to re-engage with education and believe in their own potential.

We welcome teachers with a range of experience

You may already have experience working within:

• SEMH, PRU or alternative provision settings.

• Special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).

• Mainstream secondary or primary education.

• Behaviour support or pastoral roles.

• Residential or youth settings.

• Other environments supporting vulnerable children and young people.

The role

As an SEMH Teacher, you will:

• Deliver engaging and appropriately differentiated lessons.

• Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils.

• Create a calm, structured and supportive learning environment.

• Support pupils with their emotional and behavioural needs.

• Encourage pupils to develop confidence, independence and positive attitudes towards learning.

• Work closely with colleagues and other professionals to support individual pupils.

• Adapt your approach to meet the needs of different learners.

• Confident managing challenging behaviour.

• Able to build strong professional relationships with young people.

• Flexible and adaptable in their approach.

• Passionate about supporting pupils who may have struggled within traditional education.

• Committed to creating positive outcomes for every pupil.

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an appropriate teaching qualification.
