Pay: £95 – £120 per day (dependent on experience)

Contract Type: Full-time, Long-term

About the Role

A welcoming primary school in South Manchester is seeking a patient, resilient, and dedicated SEMH Teaching Assistant to support a Key Stage 2 pupil with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health needs on a 1:1 basis. You will work closely with the SENCO and class teacher to provide tailored emotional regulation strategies and help the student engage positively with the curriculum.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide 1:1 academic, social, and emotional support to a pupil with SEMH needs.

  • Implement de-escalation strategies and follow personalized behavior management plans.

  • Help create a safe, structured, and nurturing learning environment.

  • Work collaboratively with therapists, parents, and school staff to track progress.

Role Requirements
  • Prior experience supporting children with SEMH, SEN, or challenging behaviors.

  • Strong communication skills and a calm, empathetic, yet clear approach.

  • Team Teach qualification or training in positive handling is highly desirable.

Mandatory DBS & Safeguarding Requirements
  • Must possess an Enhanced DBS Check (registered on the DBS Update Service) or be fully willing to apply for one prior to start.

  • Must provide two professional, checkable references covering the last 2 years.

  • Complete employment history with any gaps clearly explained.

  • Full right to work in the UK.
