SEMH Teaching Assistant - East London

£100-£117 per day | Full-time | Immediate Start

Remedy Education are currently recruiting for a SEMH Teaching Assistant to join a supportive and specialist education setting in East London.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Teaching Assistant who understands that some pupils need a different approach to learning. You will work with young people who may have social, emotional and mental health needs, alongside behavioural challenges and barriers to accessing education.

The successful candidate will be confident, patient and resilient, with the ability to build strong relationships with pupils who may have had difficult experiences within education. You will play an important role in helping pupils regulate their emotions, manage behaviour and re-engage with learning.

The Role:

  • Full-time, Monday to Friday

  • £100-£117 per day

  • Immediate start

  • Supporting pupils with SEMH and additional needs

  • Providing 1:1 and small-group support

  • Supporting emotional regulation and positive behaviour

  • Helping pupils re-engage with education and learning

  • Building trusting and consistent relationships

  • Supporting pupils with confidence, communication and independence

  • Working closely with teachers and specialist support staff

  • Helping create a calm, structured and positive learning environment

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Previous experience supporting children or young people with SEMH needs

  • Strong behaviour management skills

  • Experience working with challenging or complex behaviours

  • Patient, calm and emotionally resilient

  • Able to build positive relationships with hard-to-reach pupils

  • Confident setting clear boundaries and maintaining consistency

  • Strong communication skills

  • SEN experience is highly desirable

  • A genuine passion for supporting young people who may have struggled in mainstream education
