Are you passionate about supporting young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs?

We're working with a supportive school in Rochdale looking for a resilient and caring SEMH Teaching Assistant to join their team. The role is focused on building positive relationships, supporting behaviour and helping pupils overcome barriers to learning.



The Role

  • Provide 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with SEMH needs
  • Support pupils with behaviour, emotional regulation and engagement
  • Build strong, trusting relationships and act as a positive role model
  • Encourage pupils to develop confidence, resilience and independence
  • Support pupils to access learning and remain engaged in the classroom
  • Use positive behaviour strategies and consistent boundaries
  • Work closely with teachers, pastoral staff and the wider support team
  • Help maintain a calm, safe and nurturing environment


The Ideal Candidate

  • Experience working with children or young people with SEMH or behavioural needs
  • Experience in a PRU, alternative provision, SEN school or challenging mainstream setting is desirable
  • Calm, patient and resilient
  • Confident managing challenging behaviour
  • Able to build genuine and positive relationships with young people
  • Passionate about helping pupils overcome barriers to education
  • A relevant TA qualification is desirable but not essential
